Results

  • Employee satisfaction moved from 88% to 93% after its first year of operation.
  • Increased retention by 9%.
  • In year 5, more than 52,00 co-worker recognitions were sent ( nearly 4500 per month) with more than 37% of staff issuing online recognition.
  • 308 team-member-generated Ideas were successfully implented in the first 14 months of the program, with over 110 ideas generated from 165 departments.

A non-profit hospital merged with a for-profit clinic network, combining two different cultures. The organization engaged BI to assist with communicating the new and shared mission, vision, values and strategic imperatives, while providing reinforcement to those exhibiting the core values and achieving system goals.

Issues

  • Communicate the mission of the new organization.
  • Reinforce new core values.
  • Recognize system goal achievement.

Solution

  • BI led a Collaborative Design Process to create a performance system that aligned the organization’s vision and values with employee best practices.
  • A formalized recognition platform that encompasses 450 managers and more than 8,200 employees was implemented.
  • Last year, the program was migrated to a Web platform. Paper recognition cards are still utilized for 15% of YTD peer recognition.
  • In the current year, the organization’s Lean efforts were automated in the program Web site, enhancing the platform visibility and streamlining processes for the customer’s Kaizen team. The Kaizen pilot participation goals were exceeded two weeks post launch. The Lean initiative is currently being rolled out system-wide.
