Dan Hill Meet Dan Hill

Dan Hill is the founder and president of Sensory Logic, Inc., a scientific, research-based consultancy that specializes in psycho-physiological consumer insight testing and sensory-emotional branding. The company was founded in 1998, and was inspired by breakthroughs in brain science that challenge traditional ideas of how to understand and measure people’s decision-making process. Following publication of his book, Body of Truth: Leveraging What Consumers Can’t or Won’t Say (John Wiley & Sons, 2003), Dan has been featured in Business 2.0, on NPR’s Marketplace, and quoted in The New York Times and noted with distinction in the 1994, 1991 and 1989 editions of The Best American Essays.

Prior to starting Sensory Logic, Dan directed executive communications for PS&G in Newark, NJ. Dan received his M.A. in Creative Writing from Brown University, followed by a Ph.D. in English from Rutgers University.

Dan’s Approach Sensory Logic specializes in quantifying how people really feel when they see products or concepts. They can measure what works by analyzing facial muscle activity when a buyer hears an offer. That activity reveals what a customer can’t (or won’t) say and determines their emotional connection to the product or concept. Sensory Logic’s approach is based on the premise that a body won’t lie.

This scientific, one-on-one testing can help clients maximize their marketing dollars by providing:
  • clear-cut, highly actionable findings
  • more insight than rational data alone
  • precise measurement of emotional buy-in
  • objective, real-time recording of results
  • second-by-second analysis of responses
