BI WORLDWIDE Meetings & Shows Group wins Telly Award for Video Production

Apr 17, 2016 Minneapolis, MN

Minneapolis, MN USA (April 18, 2016): BI WORLDWIDE (BIW), a global engagement agency and a leader in event  production and management announces the awarding of a 2016 Telly to its Meetings & Shows Group.  The Telly award is a premier award honoring the finest film and video production in the industry.  The 36th Annual Telly Awards committee reviews over 13,000 entries from all 50 states and 5 continents.

BIW’s Meeting & Shows Group is being honored for the production of ‘Mannie Jackson: Born in a Boxcar,’ a video recognizing the life and achievements of Mannie Jackson, a successful businessman and entrepreneur.

In 2015, the NCAA recognized Mr. Jackson with their highest honor, the Theodore Roosevelt Award.  Mr. Jackson was cited for his betterment of society through contributions to sport, education and community.  Mannie’s childhood home was a railroad boxcar and he overcame poverty and racial discrimination to become a star basketball player for the University of Illinois.

Abe Saperstein, founder of the Harlem Globetrotters, convinced Mannie to join the Globetrotters and Mannie never forgot the experience.  After a successful career in business, he purchased the ailing franchise and restored it to its former glory, culminating in the Harlem Globetrotter induction to the Basketball Hall of Fame.  This video was used at the NCAA Honors Program to introduce Mr. Jackson, provide the audience with his philosophy of life and pave the way for his acceptance speech.
