BIW ofrece un plan de retiro 401(k) para ayudar a sus Asociados a ahorrar para su jubilación. BIW offers a Low and a High dental plan through HealthPartners. The Low plan covers preventive services at 100% and basic services (such as fillings) at 80% after a $50 deductible. The High plan covers preventive services at 100% and basic services at 50% after a $25 deductible. In addition it covers major restorative services (such as crowns) at 50% after a $25 deductible. Orthodontic coverage is also available under the High Plan.The monthly costs are as follows:

Pet Insurance
Pet Insurance provides coverage for veterinary expenses related to accidents and illnesses. Policies are available for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and other exotic pets. This is a voluntary benefit and cost is determined on factors such as type of animal, breed, age, and zip code.
Life Insurance
BIW provides basic life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance at one times your base salary. You may elect to purchase additional life insurance up to five times your salary (up to a max of $750K), as well as coverage for your spouse/partner, and/or children.
Short Term Disability
Short term disability coverage protects you from an illness or an injury that would cause an absense of up to eight weeks. Benefits begin after a waiting period of 7 days (personal days can be used to supplement pay while waiting) and provide 60% of your weekly income, up to a maximum of $2,500/week. This is an employer paid benefit.
Flexible Spending Accounts
A Limited Use Flex (an account only used with an HSA for dental and vision expenses), Standard Flex and a Dependent Care account are available.
Supplemental Medical Insurance
Critical Illness, Accident Insurance and Hospital Indemnity
These benefits provide you additional income in the event of a serious accident, critical illness diagnosis, or in-patient hospitalization. These dollars can be used as you see fit to cover your deductible or other non-medical expense.
Costs for Critical Illness are dependent upon age.

Family and Medial Leave Act (FMLA)
FMLA provides for up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave. Associates are eligible after 12 months of employment with BIW. FMLA leaves are administered by Voya.
Paid Time Off (PTO)
BIW supplies Associates paid time off (PTO) to use at their own discretion for family emergencies, vacation time, sick time for themselves or family members, or other personal business. PTO is based on longevity and hours worked, according to the following schedule:
Regular Full-Time Associates
- 120 hours (15 days) at hire
- 160 hours (20 days) after 1 year
- 176 hours (22 days) after 5 years
- 192 hours (24 days) after 10 years
- 208 hours (26 days) after 15 years
- 224 hours (28 days) after 20 years
- 240 hours (30 days) after 25 years
- Up to 40 hours (5 days) can be rolled over to the next year. The maximum amount of days one can have is 5 days above your anniversary amount.
- Regular Part-Time and Seasonal Associates
PTO is prorated based upon hours worked during the year and length of employment.
Flexible Work Arrangements
Fixed Flexible Hours: Fixed hours per day – for example, 8:00am – 4:30pm, 8:30am – 5:00pm, or 7:30am – 4:00pm
Work from home: Option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays if your position and schedule permits you to be away from the office.
Work from anywhere: Option to work from any location up to 4 weeks per calendar year if your position and the work you do permits it.
Summer of Love
From Memorial Day through Labor Day BIW celebrates the Summer of Love. During these months there is a relaxed dress code, along with other fun activities like barbecues, afternoon parties with live music, and other surprise events. Associates are also given additional time off to enjoy the summer months.
Treadmill and Sit-or-Stand Desks
BIW provides a number of treadmill desks on campus and in conference rooms. These are available for all associates to use for walking meetings or individually. Associates working at our MN locations are also provided with a powered stand-or-sit desk.
University of St. Thomas Scholarships
Children of BIW Associates are eligible for the Guy Schoenecker Scholarship which covers 50% of the published tuition. The scholarship is for 4 yrs or 132 credits (whichever comes first).
Parental Leave
BIW will provide up to 6 weeks of paid parental leave for parents immediately following the arrival of a new infant or for adoptive parents with new children up to age 18. This benefit is in addition to short-term disability, if applicable. Associates must be employed for 6 months to be eligible.
Long Term Disability
Long term disability coverage protects you from an illness or an injury that would cause an absence of 8 weeks or greater. Benefits begin on the 60th day and provide 60% of monthly wages, up to $15,000/month. This is an employer paid benefit.
Identity Theft Coverage
ID Theft coverage services are provided by ID Watchdog. Services are provided for a wide range of protections such as Tri-Bureau Credit monitoring, SSN monitoring, financial account monitoring as well as restoration in case of an identity theft event. The monthly costs are as follows:
