In fact, post-pandemic, some even more so!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading  has-gradient-fill has-gradient-fill-orange\">So, what were our takeaways from the talk?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Team diversity<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 employing a host of super competitive individuals is counterproductive. Focusing your attention and resources on an exclusive group can harm the company overall.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Recruitment process<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 make a concerted effort not to hire too many employees who share the same mindset and qualities. Rather, look for individuals who display the right values rather than purely the best qualifications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Attribute measuring<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 give thought to the attributes you&#8217;re measuring during the recruitment process. Additional focus on \u2018softer\u2019 skills can lend itself to better social bonds. Think empathy and listening skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Social connections<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 the key to a successful team is in its connectedness and the social capital that builds trust, interaction, and ideas, especially the longer a team works together.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading  has-gradient-fill has-gradient-fill-orange\">How to avoid a team of Super Chickens?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With that in mind, here\u2019s our \u2018chick list\u2019 of how to avoid ending up with a team of Super Chickens:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. Create time and space for connection<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Synchronise breaks &#8211;&nbsp;<\/strong>don\u2019t just encourage people to take a break, synchronise them (like Fika in Sweden) so they take them at the same time. Some companies have even banned drinks at the desk to encourage staff to socialise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Reward behaviours and values<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have a system in place that recognises those individuals who display the right behaviours that strengthen connections with colleagues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Helpfulness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaboration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respect<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Measure diversity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Measurement creates accountability. When we\u2019re being measured, we seek to improve. By tracking collective and individual behaviours within your teams it\u2019s possible to identify opportunities for greater diversity and inclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. Provide training<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Give employees the skills and tools to be more proactive and involved, whether that\u2019s presentation techniques to take charge of a meeting confidently or ways to express their ideas more convincingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5.
